iPad

  • Connect your iPad to your computer

  • In iTunes, chose File > Add to Library.

  • Then, under the Books tab in the device's syncing settings, the OW PDF can be marked to sync.

  • The OW book will then be available in iBooks, under the PDF collections.

Getting the eBook off the Operation World DVD

The Operation World DVD-ROM does indeed come with two formats of the eBook to put on your various tablets and eReaders. These are included on the physical DVD-ROM. You will most likely want to use the PDF file of the eBook for your iPad. Once you receive the DVD-ROM, put it in your computer.

If you are using a PC:

  • An autoplay window should pop up after inserting the DVD-ROM

  • Select the option Open folder to view files

    • If autoplay does not start, open My Computer, right click on the Operation World icon and select Explore

  • You should see a file called OW2010-DVD.pdf

  • Grab that file and drag-and-drop it onto your iPad using iTunes

If you are using a Mac:

  • An Operation World DVD folder should appear on your desktop after inserting the DVD-ROM

  • Click on the folder and find the file called OW2010-DVD.pdf

  • Grab that file and drag-and-drop it onto your iPad using iTunes

Viewing the Operation World eBook eBook (.mobi) on your Laptop:

Even though .mobi files are not automatically readable on Macs and PCs, Amazon puts out a useful (and free!) app for your desktop. You can download it here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000493771

After downloading it, install the software. Once it is installed, you can either double click on your eBook or put it in your new 'My Kindle Content' folder (usually located under My Documents) and the file will open up on your desktop computer.

Placing the Operation World eBook (.mobi) onto your Kindle:

  1. Plug your Kindle into your computer using your USB cable*

  2. Access your Kindle under My Computer (or Mac Finder if you are using a Mac)

  3. You will see several folders. Click on the Documents folder

  4. Drag and drop your Operation World eBook into this folder

  5. You should then be able to read your eBook on your Kindle

*Note: If you have a Kindle Fire, you WILL need to purchase a micro USB cable in order to manually transfer files from your computer to your Kindle Fire. I find it a little frustrating that this cable does not come standard with the Kindle Fire, but if you have a smartphone, most of them come with a micro USB that can also be used on your Kindle. If not, you can easily find one at a Best Buy or any similar electronics store.

Mobi format on Kindle Fire 1st Generation

The OW mobi file works well on a Kindle Fire 1st Generation. The main problem you may run into is that some tables, particularly the Christian denomination tables, you will need to turn the phone to get a wide view for them to display well.

One thing is you will need a USB cable to get the downloaded .mobi file from you pc or mac to your Kindle.

Reading Mobi format on Mac or PC

If you would want to open the .mobi file on your Mac, you would need

software which would read the Mobi format. One is Calibre,
